Who We Are

As the party of the people, the Elk County Democratic Committee supports programs and policies that work to improve the lives of our local citizens and allow small businesses to prosper.

We promote policies that allow our local businesses and manufacturers to be able to compete and thrive in a global economy.

We support working families and their ability to gain family sustaining jobs here in Elk County.

We encourage efforts to protect our environment for the next generation and for generations to come.

We support programs that protect children, the elderly, and the disabled.

We believe that access to early childhood through post secondary education along with access to affordable health care is vital to the future of our nation.

We support a government of the people, by the people and for the people, a government made up of elected officials that govern in the best interests of those that elected them, not special interest groups and outside donors.

We hold that all citizens, regardless of age, national origin, race, gender identification, sexual orientation, religion or disability, are created equal and must be afforded the same rights and protections by both our government and the private sector.

We seek common sense approaches to deal with the challenges that are faced in our townships, boroughs and cities, at the county level in Ridgway, at the state level in Harrisburg and at the federal level in Washington, DC.

We are Democrat Proud!

About Our Committee

Thank you for taking the time to learn more about the voice of the Democratic Party in Elk County.  We strongly encourage you to become part of the movement. There are many ways that you can become involved.

The Elk Co. Democratic Committee meets numerous times throughout the year at various locations around the county.  Meeting dates, times and locations are announced on the committee’s official website and Facebook pages.

Our meetings are open to anyone interested in helping foster a more progressive government at the local, state and federal levels. You do not need to be a precinct chair to attend our meetings, just have a passion for progressive politics. If you would like to become “officially” involved, there are opportunities to be a precinct chair or serve on our executive board.

The Committee also holds a petition signing breakfast in the spring, meet & great events, a summer picnic as well as an annual dinner at which time various candidates for office are in attendance. Participants have the opportunity to meet the candidates and local party leaders, converse with like minded individuals and learn more about the candidates through their presentations. In the past, we have hosted not only local officials but also candidates for Governor and US Senator among our speakers.

The committee also has numerous other ways that individuals can get involved. We have various sub-committees that help promote our candidates and our party.

The Elk Co. Democratic Committee believes in the power of local politics and its ability to affect change in Harrisburg and Washington, DC. Today’s borough council people and school board directors are tomorrow’s County Commissioners, State Representatives and United States Congress people.
